Planning your dream wedding is an exciting journey, but understanding the costs can sometimes feel overwhelming. From choosing the perfect venue to finalizing your guest list, creating a realistic wedding budget is an important part of the planning process.

At Ahmic Lake Resort, we believe wedding planning should be enjoyable, transparent, and tailored to your vision and budget. That's why we've put together a helpful guide to Ontario wedding venue costs for 2026/2027, including a breakdown of our wedding pricing, a sample budget for 80 guests, and practical ways to make the most of your wedding budget without compromising on the experience.
Whether you're dreaming of an intimate lakeside ceremony or a larger celebration surrounded by family and friends, we're here to help you create a memorable wedding that reflects your style.
Start With the Venue Package: $4,000 and What It Covers
The venue fee is the anchor of any lakeside wedding package in Ontario, and it's also where surprise charges tend to hide. At Ahmic Lake Resort, the Venue Package is a flat $4,000 and includes:
· Your choice of lakeside, lawn or indoor ceremony venue
· Reception at the Swiss Country House, with patio and waterfront access
· Tables, chairs, and white or black linens and napkins
· China, glassware and flatware
· Setup of guest, head, cake and gift tables
· A designated dance floor and full-service bar setup
· Property access for wedding photography
· An on-site wedding coordinator
· Standard setup and cleanup
· An indoor backup venue for bad weather
That last item matters more than it looks. Many outdoor venues charge separately for a rain plan or a tent rental, which can add thousands to the bill. Here, the fallback is already built in.
Not included: food, beverages, cottage accommodations, décor, entertainment, specialty rentals, taxes and gratuities.
Wedding Catering Cost per Person
Food is almost always the largest line in a wedding budget. Here is how the Ahmic Lake menu is priced:
· Cocktail hour – $22 per guest: Choice of 3 appetizers, such as smoked salmon crostini, charcuterie or chicken satay.
· Buffet dinner – $85 per guest: Two entrées plus vegetarian, three sides, rolls, dessert buffet, tea and coffee.
· Plated dinner – $99 per guest: Starter, one entrée plus vegetarian, sides, one dessert.
· Dessert buffet (with plated) – +$10 per guest: Swaps the single plated dessert for a spread.
· Late-night snack – $15 per guest: Choose one: poutine, sliders, tacos, pad thai or cookies and butter tarts.
Buffet or plated?
The $14 difference per guest adds up to $1,120 at 80 guests. A buffet gives guests more choice (the Famous Pork Schnitzel is a nod to the kitchen's Swiss roots) and includes dessert. A plated dinner feels more formal and keeps the evening on schedule, which helps when speeches run long.
Wedding Bar Package Prices
· 4-hour house bar: $60 per person
· 6-hour house bar: $75 per person
· Premium upgrade: +$15 per person
· Non-alcoholic package: $12 per person
· Cash bar and host bar options are also available
If your crowd isn't big on drinking, a host bar (you pay only for what's poured) or switching to a cash bar after the toasts can shrink this line noticeably. The non-alcoholic package is useful for guests under 19, Ontario's legal drinking age.

Five Ways to Lower Your Ontario Wedding Venue Cost
· Let the lake do the decorating. A waterfront ceremony needs far fewer florals and backdrops than a blank ballroom.
· Shorten the open bar. A 4-hour package followed by a cash bar saves $15 per guest over the 6-hour option.
· Choose buffet over plated. You save $14 per guest and still get dessert included.
· Skip the shuttle. With on-site cottages, guests walk to bed, so there's no transportation to book. Cottages are reserved separately, and minimum stays may apply on peak and holiday weekends.
· Stay flexible on the date. Ask the team whether a different day of the week or season opens up better availability.
